Exclusive Online Premiere of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan” – Episode One

Showtime’s newest show “Ray Donovan” premiered yesterday and to say it looks killer is a total understatement; it IS killer.

The series follows Ray (Liev Schreiber) as a “fixer” for the rich and famous whose life gets turned upside down when his father Mickey (Jon Voight) is released from prison.

Set in the sprawling Mecca of the rich and famous, Ray Donovan does the dirty work for LA’s top power players.

Check out the preview here to get a taste:

If that got you as excited to watch “Ray Donovan” as it did for me, check out the entire first episode here:

Watch the preview at the very least, and then progress to the full episode as I did; you won’t be able to help yourself.

If you liked the intensity and plot twists of Dexter and Shameless, give Ray Donovan the once over.

The Great Gatsby Premiere Lives up to Hype

Okay, so let’s talk Gatsby. I am sure you were forced to read it at some point growing up. It was one of those books that you might have just read the Cliff’s Notes on. I know that wasn’t just me. The famous book by F. Scott Fitzgerald is now being made into a movie for the 5th time. To be honest, before the hype surrounding this go-round I was only aware of one film adaptation as my English teacher in had us watch it after “finishing” the book.

Gatsby is one of the years most anticipated films. The lavish opening was held Wednesday night at Avery Fisher Hall in NYC included a seemingly un-ending line of A-listers walking the red carpet.

As for the leading men Leonardo Dicaprio arrived solo in head to toe Prada in Navy, with his classic slicked black hair. Tobey MaGuire equally as dapper chose a Saint Laurent Navy suit, accessorizing with his beautiful wife, Jennifer. Both looking like they walked directly out of the 1920’s into the current era. Leo spoke for a brief moment on channeling his inner Gatsby. “This novel took on a whole new meaning for me when I became an adult. I really connected and was fascinated by the loneliness and isolation of this man that is a part of this new America that is emerging as this superpower.”

Tobey also shared his thoughts on portraying Nick Carraway: “I think we’re pretty true to the book. In the book, Nick is observing a lot of the action but we did find a way to show the audience how the action affects Nick, and I think that was one of the keys to our strategy to making the film.”

But no one caught my attention as much as Jay Z. It is no surprise that he was dressed to the nines. The co-creator of the soundtrack and executive producer of the film stood out above the rest. In a charcoal window pane two button suit, Jay Z continues to show that a hip hop artist can look as sophisticated as the next, all you have to do is add some men’s dress shirts to his wardrobe. Jay Z is showing us that 2013 is a big year for him, not that we are surprised, with Beyoncé as his wife every year is a big year. He has already made the cover of Time Magazine’s Most Influential issue and recently received a shout out from the President.

The film was swarming with celebrities, so much so that Jennifer Lawrence even seemed a little star struck running into Jay Z. While he is impressive in a number of ways, Director, Baz Luhrmann noted that he was more impressed with his work ethic than his talent and fame. Luhrmann boasts “he is one of the most professional people I have ever worked with.”

There is no stopping Jay Z at this point in his career. It seems there is no mountain he can’t climb and no project he is afraid to tackle. Next on the list is a remake of Annie, a film that should fare quite well with an added twist of Jay Z’s flair.

Of course no premiere is complete without an after party, the Plaza Hotel hosted the event where the stars danced alongside performers dressed as flappers to give it a modern day Gatsby feel.

The event went out without any mishaps, and those who were able to view the film imply they are pleased with the final product, seems it was well worth the anticipation leading up to the premiere.

Audrina Patridge at Hard Rock Music Lounge

We’re huge fans of Audrina Partridge so we were happy to get a look at these new photos of this lovely lady at the Hard Rock Music Lounge in Palm Springs. Plenty of celebs and VIPs joined her at the “Women Who Rock” pool party hosted by Kelly Rowland on Saturday, April 13th, with Kelly Rowland, Whitney Port, Elijah Wood, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Eli Roth, Josh Henderson, Brad Goreski, Katie Cassidy, Adrienne Bailon, Passion Pit and more on hand for the festivities.

Audrina was seen picking up a fringe swimsuit from Missguided in anticipation of spending the rest of her weekend under the desert sun and also checked out some new shoes. Check out the photos as she looks amazing as usual, this time wearing some cute Daisy Dukes.

Dove Skincare Interview With Dr. Allan Peterkin – Beardsman and Author of “The Bearded Gentleman: A Style Guide to Shaving Face”

Dr. Allan Peterkin is a physician, author and professor. He has published 14 books, most recently The Bearded Gentlemen: A Style Guide To Shaving Face, and is currently working with Dove and their new Men+Care Face Range, a full line to help dudes care for their faces.

Recently, I sat very close to Dr. Peterkin as we stroked our beards in a sexually suggestive manner in unison, and asked him the following questions.

BE: “Beardsmith” that you are, what’s the best way to kiss my old lady with passion, yet not drag my stubble or goatee across her skin, to the point where she says it feels “exfoliated” after we’re done?

DR. PETERKIN: Some call that a “snog burn,” snog being the English word for kiss. The best advice I can give you is work on your angle and your approach, and moisturize your face often to keep it as soft as possible!

Your book is called The Bearded Gentleman: A Style Guide to Shaving Face and One Thousand Beards. What is the number one mistake most aspiring “beardsmen” make?

DR. PETERKIN: The number one mistake men make is that they think their grooming work is finished once they’ve grown a beard. Facial hair requires a lot of maintenance; men have to make a commitment to their beards! They need to be trimmed properly and their margins kept clean. Washing and moisturizing also helps to keep the facial hair clean, and to condition it, which is crucial. I like the new Dove Men+Care Face Range, which provides products specifically designed for men and offers a three step solution: cleanse shave, and finish. You can use the Dove Men+Care Face Wash to clean your beard and the Face Lotion to condition or soften it.

DR. PETERKIN: I often think of the term “flavor saver” in relation to the soul patch. I think the soul patch is a fun form of expression, probably most appropriate for younger guys. Facial hair has become more mainstream and acceptable, but I’m not so sure we’re there yet with the soul patch.

An issue some guys have with their blonde hair is that it doesn’t tend to grow in fully. Blonde facial hair can have uneven or patchy growth. Being a blonde myself, I suggest choosing a style after seeing what grows in most, and where, but don’t be too concerned about the color of your hair. Just play to your strengths!

BE: How can I pick up chicks using just my “beardsmanship”?

DR. PETERKIN: That is a tough one and it’s a matter of taste. Women seem to be split – some really like facial hair, others do not like it at all. Toss a coin, and if you’re going to have facial hair, wear it proudly.

BE: What is your stance on guys who have so much chest hair that it naturally flows into the beard area? Should there be a distinct line of demarcation?

DR. PETERKIN: I think it would look better to have a distinct line of demarcation, somewhere between the chin and the Adam’s apple. Men should shave the neck and lower edge of the beard, and leave their chest natural.

BE: In your opinion, either living or dead, who had the most badass facial hair in history?

DR. PETERKIN: I think I would have to say either Santa or Satan. Kidding. By category, I’d choose Salvador Dali’s mustache and Elvis’ sideburns. My favorite religious beard is Moses. I’d say one of my all-time favorites is romantic Composer Giuseppi Verdi’s beard.

How to Really Love Your Girlfriend

Men have spent centuries trying to figure the complex female mind and desires. He spends his time and money attempting to win her heart, and feels like the luckiest guy in the world once he succeeds. You can be that guy if you learn a few ways to show the girl in your life that you really love her.

Make a Regular Date Night

She deserves a man that loves her and wants to show her off to anybody and everybody. Schedule regular date nights with her. Go to dinner together, see the latest movie and go dancing. It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you’re doing it. She will love that you’re taking her out and showing that you’re invested in spending time with her. You don’t always have to go out. Sometimes you can stay in with her too. The key is that the two of you are together.

Buy Her Nice Things

Every girl loves it when the man in her life buys her nice things. Truly succeeding at this requires that you pay attention to her. What does she like? Figure out her interests and buy something around that. She may like jewelry, but if she mentioned a favorite book that she’s loved since childhood, lean more toward the sentimental. Find a first edition or signed copy of it. Things like this will mean far more to her in the long run. It shows your love, and that you listen to even the seemingly little things.

Share Your Heart With Her

A girl adores a man that know how to express himself. This doesn’t mean that you have to be feminine or girly. It simply means that you share with her the important aspects of your life. She wants to know why your job means so much to you. Tell her things about your past. It shows that you’re willing and ready to share every aspect of your life with her: past, present and future.

Do Something Over and Beyond

Sometimes, you need to make grand gestures of your love for her. It’s a wonderful thing when a man is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. So, whip out that straight razor shaving kit, get dressed up and give her a night to remember. These are the types of dates you see from those dapper men in romance movies. You can be that guy, if even for a few nights in the year.

Make your girlfriend feel like the luckiest girl in the world by showing her just how much you love her on a daily basis. It’s the key to lasting, passionate relationships.
