Auto Review: BMW 1 Series M Coupe

2012 BMW 1 Series M Coupe Front

From the minute the original BMW M3 came out it was one of the sleekest looking, best handling cars I’d ever driven. The M3’s engine was made for high speeds and swerving through urban or interstate traffic. The newest version, the 1 Series M Coupe, is now available for public consumption.

Unlike most souped-up engines, this BMW 3.0-litre straight-six is just there, murmuring gently, ready for the call in any gear and at any speed. This extraordinary, turbine-like urge is not at all like the old M3, with its hot cams and whirring chain drive, yet the M Coupé’s revs will climb to an astonishing 7,000rpm before the limiter cuts in. Your first overtaking manoeuvre is so ridiculously easy it’s hard not to laugh.

The Faux Hawk Won’t Die

null
Did anyone really believe the “Faux Hawk” would subsist this long? I remember the first time I saw it back in 2003 and at that time any person utilizing the style was subject to a lot of ridicule; it was like a built in cock (rooster) joke. But once David Beckham started rocking it, it spread like wildfire in a heavily wooded area thanks to a cigarette being flippantly discarded.
A quick description;

A variation of the “Mohawk” hair style. Hair is worm longer down the middle of the head and usually spiked with gel. Contrary to the traditional “Mohawk” style, hair is not shaved completely on the sides of the head.

Since it isn’t going anywhere, and thanks to the magic of the internet, you can give yourself a faux-hawk and watch the ladies swoon as if you were Jake Gyllenhaal.

How To Fade Your Hair

Fades are cool when done correctly, but when they aren’t “faded” they can look more like a bowl cut. Anyone can shave your head, but there is a fine art to a proper fade, one that your friends won’t text your other buddies about when your poorly cut head is turned. Here, that art is explored in step by step fashion. Don’t be the guy waltzing around this summer thinking your “self-fade” looks good; it doesn’t.

In NBA Playoffs, Beards Abound

Somewhere James Worthy’s beard is smiling. Why? Because modern NBA players have stumbled upon a secret he patented years ago while winning titles in the 80’s. Want to successfully advance through the NBA Playoffs? Then grow a beard; the data came back from the lab and the science can’t be disputed.

More players are rocking full beards than any time in recent memory. In the Mavericks vs. Thunder series the Mavs DeShawn Stevenson’s “Neck Forest” is only rivaled by the Thunder’s James Harden who we covered earlier in the week. On the other side of the bracket, the Bulls double trouble bearded combo of Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah are outnumbering LeBron’s “mane” two to one but the series is even. No matter who wins either Conference Final, we’re bound to see some serious beard on beard action in the Finals.
