Is The Jay Buhner Look FINALLY Out?

In the late 90’s and early 2000’s it was considered cool for guys who were “follically challenged” to shave their heads with a razor ( “Bic it down”) and then grow out a patch of their chin hair to resemble Jay Buhner, one of the best sluggers in MLB at that time. Chicks hated it (like they basically do with everything) but dudes loved it because it made them feel “tough”.

I hadn’t seen this look for a solid 7-8 years until I was at the grocery store two days ago. I was waiting in line at the register and a guy pulled up (better than pulling out- ZING) behind me and he was rocking the “Buhner”. The items in his shopping cart weren’t very “Buhner-esque” because there was no red meat or beer.

Has anyone seen a person in their neighborhood with this look? Or did it go out like Zubaz?

Check It Out: The MANGROOMER

Want an easy way to get rid of that back hair? There are all sorts of trimmers out there to help you with your manscaping, but few of them make it easy to handle the hard-to-reach areas on your back. That’s a problem, as back hair ranks up there as one of the biggest turnoffs for women. We tried out the new MANGROOMER, and this do-it-yourself electric back hair shaver is incredibly easy to use.

Thanks To Anthony Davis Unibrows are IN, Right? WRONG

Just because Anthony Davis can rock a Unibrow, does that mean you should do it?

As the former proprietor of a once finely manicured Unibrow, I just always consider it in these terms; “Would I date/mess with/make out with a girl with a Unibrow?” The answer in my one way, completely self generated mental environment is always a sold “No”.

And based on this thread of unanimous “No” answers, it extends beyond the realm of my mind.

Don’t be the “Anthony Davis” of your neighborhood, dorm or cube farm.

Julio Jones cuts his dread and donates his hair

Here’s a pretty cool story.

Wide receiver Julio Jones, sporting a new haircut, continued to shine in the workouts.

“There is a little less weight on the top of his head with his dreads gone, but he’s had a very good camp for us as you saw today,” Smith said. “He made some very nice catches, and he’s been making those types of catches all through camp.”

For Jones, cutting his hair was about more than just a new look.

Gone are the dreadlocks that were a trademark for Jones through his first season in Atlanta and his collegiate career at Alabama.

Jones cut his hair and donated it to a charity that helps children with cancer.

“We do a lot of community service here, and from going to a lot of hospitals and seeing all the kids who are fans of mine, I just cut my hair and donated it for leukemia patients,” Jones said Wednesday.

Jones said he has run into a number of people who double-take in his direction, unsure if he is really the Falcons receiver. There are no plans to grow his hair out again.

The clean look has to be more comfortable during the hot summer workouts!

“Iguana” Touch It??

In the past on barbershopblog.com we’ve documented haircuts with portraits of notable humans carved into the sides of people’s heads. But this time, we’re going to dip into the animal kingdom.

To hell with the faux hawk- there’s a new sheriff in town. Say hello to the “Iguana Cut”. Pay special attention to the tail- sans iguana on top, it would be a bitchin’ “Rat Tail”. Just like the 80’s, it’s “rat-ical”.

Either way, it’s still better than Carolina Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen’s haircut.
