Julio Jones cuts his dread and donates his hair

Here’s a pretty cool story.

Wide receiver Julio Jones, sporting a new haircut, continued to shine in the workouts.

“There is a little less weight on the top of his head with his dreads gone, but he’s had a very good camp for us as you saw today,” Smith said. “He made some very nice catches, and he’s been making those types of catches all through camp.”

For Jones, cutting his hair was about more than just a new look.

Gone are the dreadlocks that were a trademark for Jones through his first season in Atlanta and his collegiate career at Alabama.

Jones cut his hair and donated it to a charity that helps children with cancer.

“We do a lot of community service here, and from going to a lot of hospitals and seeing all the kids who are fans of mine, I just cut my hair and donated it for leukemia patients,” Jones said Wednesday.

Jones said he has run into a number of people who double-take in his direction, unsure if he is really the Falcons receiver. There are no plans to grow his hair out again.

The clean look has to be more comfortable during the hot summer workouts!

Jose Reyes New Look

In order to comply with the Florida Marlins “clean cut” policy, new acquisition Jose Reyes shaved off his trademark dreadlocks. “It’s going to be a little bit emotional because I spent three years with this hair. But at the same time, I understand this rule of my new team. I’m a team player, so I have to cut it off.”

In an effort to raise money for charity, Reyes put his hair on Ebay, and amazingly, people bid for it. The hair sold for $6,112 dollars.

White People And Dreadlocks Are Out

In a sense, white people with dreadlocks are an offense to nature, like the “Double Down” sandwich from Burger King. While the “Double Down” literally gives Mother Nature the middle finger (combining parts from pig, chicken and cow, then frying it), white people with dreads do much the same thing because they are forced and do not occur naturally.

Was that style ever really “in”, anyway? We all knew “Phish Kid” who had them and thought it was a phase, just like the copious drug use. Unless you’re Jon Favreau in the cult hit PCU, and you happen to be white, don’t do it. We all know you’re just mad at your dad.

What was that? You want to know how to style your hair into dreadlocks, and you’re a white person? Well, step one is to stop showering, which is no way to start a new hair style or anything else really.
