How to Drive a Stick Shift

Drive a stick.

We’ve already covered the importance of tying a tie in a man’s life. Now it’s time for something even more practical: how to drive a stick shift. As with the tie, driving a stick shift is just one of those things that every guy should know how to do. Imagine the day your friend or father-in-law offers you the keys to his brand new Shelby or asks you to take the wheel of his Porsche. Do you want to have to say no? Worse yet, do you want to be the guy grinding the gears?

I thought not. Thankfully, Bullz-Eye has put together a quick set of tips for learning to drive stick. Of course nothing can substitute for time behind the wheel, so make sure you get some good experience before hitting the streets. Here’s a quick look at the guide:

If you’re an experienced driver, you’ve probably heard the benefits of driving an automobile that has a manual transmission. For starters (no pun intended), cars with stick shifts are generally very fuel efficient, which is obviously a bonus in today’s economy where the gas prices continue to rise. They also have fewer moving parts than automatic transmissions, require less maintenance and are easier to repair, which means they usually have longer longevity and cost cheaper.

Cars with stick shifts also respond better to the driver, which makes them safer (assuming the driver himself is safe). Due to the constant shifting and changing of gears, drivers have to focus more on driving, which means less time for texting, talking on the phone, or doing other dangerous activities that many people with automatic transmissions partake in.

Bullz-Eye reviews the 2011 Mazda 6i sedan

Mazda 6i header.

The guys at Bullz-Eye recently got behind the wheel of a 2011 Mazda 6i sedan for a review. The Mazda nameplate has grown in popularity with the rise of the Mazda 6, but did Mazda try to do too much with the car? After all, it can be tough to pack the look and feel of a sportscar and the utility of a sedan onto one chassis. As Bullz-Eye has it, Mazda did a great job striking that balance.

Here’s an excerpt from the review:

After spending considerable time in the 2011 Mazda 6i Sedan Touring, I would have to say the interior is where the car has the most going for itself in this very crowded segment. Our test model did not have leather seating but the black cloth seats were of high quality and extremely comfortable in both the front and back. The center control stack is very user friendly and although we didn’t have a navigation system in our test model, most other current features like Sirius satellite and Bluetooth were included. The interior was roomy enough to seat five adults and also included 60/40 split fold down rear seats. The tilt and telescopic steering wheel felt upscale but sporty. Mazda engineers must have worked overtime on preventing wind noise in the cabin because the Mazda 6 did a great job keeping the cabin quiet during my time behind the wheel. The 2011 Mazda 6i Sedan also has very generous trunk space with a class leading 16.6 cubic feet of storage.

How to tie a tie

How to Tie a Tie.

A man’s life has several milestones that signal his transition to adulthood. There is, of course, shaving, but tying a tie is easily near the top of the list. The first day you throw on that well-tailored suit, button up your dress shirt, and slide your tie up into a perfect Double Windsor, it’s hard to ignore the feelings of accomplishment and manliness that wash over you.

And yet, so many men grow up without knowing how to knot that cravat. No excuses, fellas. The guys at Bullz-Eye have put together a guide on not only tying that tie, but also choosing the right one for the occasion.

Here’s a quick excerpt from the guide:

Let’s start by picking out a tie. Make sure you buy a tie made of 100% pure silk that isn’t too distracting. You’re not trying to land a plane; you’re trying to impress a perspective employer, a client or her parents. So pick a plain color (stripes work well, too) that goes with the rest of your attire.

RED: Accentuates the overall outfit and goes with almost any suit and shirt, especially when matched with a darker suit and a white, gray or blue dress shirt.

BURGUNDY/DARK RED: Viewed as a “business classic” color, often worn by politicians and is good for almost any occasion.

BLUE: One of the most popular colors for neckties and is usually a good choice in spring.

NAVY/DARK BLUE: Like burgundy, navy is perfect for business occasions and will combine with all other colors.

Bullz-Eye heads to Las Vegas for season opening

Monte Carlo dining.

Bullz-Eye’s headed out to Las Vegas to see just what this season’s travelers can expect. They’ll be spending time at two of MGM’s Vegas properties – New York New York Hotel and Casino and the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino – from June 10th to the 12th and, of course, reporting back about the debauchery that’s sure to ensue.

From the Bullz-Eye Blog:

This visit will introduce and provide Bullz-Eye with an in-depth look at all these properties have to offer to their guests this summer. We’ve been to the New York-New York Hotel and Casino and Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in the past and we know there are many property highlights so we were particularly interested in some of events they have planned during the upcoming trip. We will be conducting tours of both properties, nightly dinners and drinks at the properties’ various high-quality restaurants, attending both properties entertainment, and setting aside time at a private cabana at the Monte Carlo pool and spa area on Saturday.

To read more about what the Bullz-Eye guys expect and to see a gallery of the amenities at MGM’s Vegas properties, head over to the Bullz-Eye Blog.
